1. Is the CBP Program offered in French?

The CBP Program was initially developed in English since IBTA is an international association. To bring this program to the Quebec market, JeMM Consultants is in the process of translating the program into French. The target launch date is fall 2006.

2. My colleague mentioned that she is CBP certified. What is CBP anyway?

CBP stands for Certified Business Professional. The CBP Program is an international industry credential that validates and develops the competencies for business professionals.

3. What kind of certification is offered? Is it more than just a business-oriented program?

The CBP Program creates a fundamental, industry-neutral certification for business professionals. In fact, it is the only certification that combines business skills and information technology (IT) expertise in one certification.

4. How is the CBP Program different from other skill-acquiring programs?

The CBP Program provides the essential skills that are required by major institutions and organizations as a measure of competency. Candidates also learn important life-skills that transcend the work environment with respect to many aspects of living and life itself.

5. Why should I seek CBP accreditation?

In a nutshell, to get ahead. Organizations looking to increase productivity and enhance performance levels are turning to those individuals who have the ability to demonstrate critical skill sets. Being CBP-certified effectively becomes the career differentiator affording the business professional added credibility and potential for initial and advanced employment.

For business professionals: The CBP certification demonstrates knowledge of industry standards, best practices and leading business skills as well as those for future employment.

For experienced professionals: If an experienced business professional does not already have a widely-recognized certification, then it is to his or her advantage to earn the CBP designation to show current or potential employers of their skills and expertise.

6. What do I need to do to get the CBP designation?

There are several levels of CBP designations: Professional, Executive and Master Executive.

The CBP Professional credential is for professionals who are seeking the fundamental business skills required to support and lead today's organizations. These skills are required by major institutions and organizations as a measure of competency.

To attain the CBP Professional credential, candidates must attend and pass the exam for one of the following courses:

  • Leadership;
  • Customer Service;
  • Sales;
  • Business Etiquette & Professionalism;
  • Business Communication.

The CBP Executive credential is for business professionals who wish to demonstrate expertise in all five (5) CBP core areas of Leadership, Customer Service, Sales, Business Etiquette & Professionalism, and Business Communication. The CBPe is a business executive who has developed a wide cross-section of business skills and can also integrate into a variety of positions within corporations.

To attain the CBP Executive credential, candidates must attend all five CBP Professional courses and pass all associated exams, which consist of the following:

  • Leadership;
  • Customer Service;
  • Sales;
  • Business Etiquette & Professionalism;
  • Business Communication.

The CBP Master Executive program is for candidates who wish to specialize and gain mastery in specific business skills segments such as Project Management, Technology, Sales & Marketing, and Business Management. The CBPme is a business executive who possesses core business skills and has achieved mastery in a specific business field.

To achieve the CBP Master Executive designation, candidates must pass all five CBP Professional exams and one of the following CBP elective certifications.

  • Project Management;
  • Technology;
  • Sales & Marketing;
  • Business Management.

7. Can you describe the types of courses I would be taking?

The CBP curriculum covers core business and technology skills. It also focuses on industry standards and leading productivity technologies. Courses can be tailored for companies and delivered on-site to employees. The program includes workshops, lectures, simulations and hands-on sessions that provide the learning environment to maximize the individual candidate’s potential.


8. Who developed the CBP Program?

The CBP Program was developed by industry-wide and cross-platform job task analysis and consultation with key industry representatives to ensure the program’s effectiveness and applicability.

9. Who administers the CBP certification testing process?

The CBP certification exams are administered by Thomson Prometric, Inc. and supervised by JeMM Consultants. The exams measure technical proficiency and establish a level of core competency required to be a CBP. For a CBP Professional credential (two-day course), exams are held on the third day. Exam times range from 1.5 to 2 hours. Participants book their preferred exam times on a first-come, first-serve basis. This is done before students attend session.

10. How is JeMM Consultants associated with CBP?

JeMM Consultants, a training and professional development consulting firm, received its formal accreditation from the International Business Training Association in October 2005. This partnership with the IBTA allows JeMM Consultants to offer Certified Business Professional Program training and certify business professionals to global standards. JeMM Consultants is also experienced in analyzing companies’ training needs and developing and delivering customized training interventions for organizations. JeMM Consultants is also an accredited training organization with Emploi-Quebec in favour of The Act to Foster the Development of Manpower Training (Bill 90).
